1953 Zundapp KS601 Specifications - Engine

  
   The Zundapp model KS601 was produced from 1950 to 1958. During those years a total of just over 5000 were built in three variants; the KS601 through 1957 with plunger suspension, the KS601 Sport from 1952 to 1957 with more horsepower, and the KS601 Elastic from 1957 to 1958 with the Sport engine and swingarm rear suspension. The American versions were apparently equipped with a tandem upholstered seat rather than the solo saddle.

The following specifications are primarily from Section A, Technical Details, of the 1953 Operation-Instructions for Zundapp Motorcycle Model KS601. I have added data for the different versions where appropriate, relating for the most part to engine output and chassis details and gathered from diverse sources. Be aware there were some discrepancies among my various documents. I was occasionally forced to make my best guess regarding dates, output, weight, etc., so this compilation is not God's word on the subject, but I'd say the percentage of error is negligible. As with the rest of this website, I'd welcome any knowledgeable input.

I pretty much stuck to the spelling, capitalization, and punctuation from the manual, so if it looks a little weird tell Zundapp about it (If it's spelled wrong tell me about it). If you have a later release of the Operation-Instructions manual I would sure appreciate a scan of the spec's pages to make comparisons.
